FAU NeW / efs-NeW
The Chair of Food Chemistry is a member of the FAU Research Center “New Bioactive Compounds” (FAU NeW). FAU NeW unites internationally renowned researchers from FAU and Universitätsklinikum Erlangen in the fields pharmaceutical science, food chemistry, and pharmacology. The interdisciplinary research center FAU-NeW pools resources and research activities to develop and optimize drug candidates, bioactive food components and formulations. Another focus is on the identification of new target proteins and studies on target–ligand interactions and the role of target proteins in signal transduction.
Within FAU NeW, the Emil Fischer Graduate Programme (efs-NeW) promotes talents pursuing their doctoral thesis in an interdisciplinary environment. efs-NeW provides young researchers with key qualifications required for a successful career in drug target research and drug development.
