There are two major highways that pass through Erlangen. The A3 runs northwest/southeast between Würzburg and Regensburg while the A73 runs north/south between Bamberg and Nuremberg (Nürnberg).
A3:
Exit the highway at “Erlangen-Tennenlohe” in direction Erlangen (Bundesstraße B4). Exit the B4 at “Gräfenberg/Universität-Südgelände” and turn left onto Kurt-Schumacher-Straße. Keep straight, then pass Cauer-Straße and turn left at the next street Erwin-Rommel-Straße. The Physical Chemistry building is approximately 50 m ahead on the left.
A73:
Exit the highway at “Erlangen-Bruck”. Turn right in direction Gräfenberg (Bundesstraße B4) onto Paul-Gossen-Straße which will turn into the B4. After a little more then 3 km exit B4 at “Gräfenberg/Universität-Südgelände” and turn left onto Kurt-Schumacher-Straße. Keep straight, then Pass Cauer-Straße and turn left at the next street Erwin-Rommel-Straße. The Physical Chemistry building is approximately 50 m ahead on the left.
You may park your car at the places indicated with a “P”.
The School of Sciences, including the Physical Chemistry building, as well as the School of Engineering is serviced by buses 287 and 293.
bus 287:
To reach the bus stop for bus 287 exit the train station to the east through the main entrance. The stop is directly in front of the station. The train station is in the middle of the bus 287 loop. There are typically several buses travelling the 287 route with one bus departing the station to the east towards the “Technische Fakultät” and one departing west from the station towards the western suburbs of Erlangen. The eastern portion of the bus 293 loop ends at the “Sebaldussiedlung”. Make sure to take bus 287 that stops on the same side of the road as the train station. You need to exit the bus at bus stop “Technische Fakultät”.
bus 293:
To reach the bus stop for bus 293 exit the train station to the east through the main entrance. Walk around the church to Hugenottenplatz. The plaza is situated between the church and the Sparkasse bank. The eastern portion of the bus 293 loop ends at the “Sebaldussiedlung”. You need to exit the bus at bus stop “Technische Fakultät”.
From the Nuremberg airport you can take a taxi or a bus. A taxi will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes and cost 25 to 30 €. Taking the bus can take up to 45 minutes and will cost between 3 and 4 € as you have to buy a ticket that allows you to travel through 4 zones.
Take the bus to “Thon” (bus line 32). Change in “Thon” to the bus to “Erlangen Hugenottenplatz” (bus line 30 or 30 E). Exit at bus stop “Erlangen Süd”. From here you have to walk to our chair (it should require about 10 min.). The bus station “Erlangen Süd” is located south of the chair (also see the maps). You will have to walk up the Egerlandstraße. The Physical Chemistry building is at the end of Egerlandstraße on the right.
