Functionalized magnetic Nanoparticles for the environmental Remediation

“The petroleum pollution of the oceans as well as of fresh water resources is enormous and is increasing further. SOTA response methods are unsatisfying. Therefore, new petroleum sorbent materials are required. The goal of my work is to develop such a new sorbent material, which is based on magnetic nanoparticles and functionalized with an oleophilic monolayer (ML). Additionally, a selectivity in adsorption of petroleum shall be realized by targeted mixing in the ML.”
